Martin Doherty
CEO and Co-founder (Ethos Education)

Meet the visionary leader behind Education Disruptor, Martin Doherty. As the CEO and founder, Martin brings a wealth of experience and passion to the forefront of our mission. Notably, Martin is also one of the co-founders of Ethos Education a pioneering organization committed to reshaping the educational landscape, and co-founder of Canada Global Academy the only provider of fully Accredited K12 Ontario Ministry of Education international schools (outside of North America) that offers the award winning Ontario Ministry of Education Digital Learning Platform.   With a strong commitment to innovation, education, and transformation, he is the driving force behind our magazine’s disruptive vision.

Martin’s unique perspective, born from his involvement with Ethos Education and Canada Global Academy, underscores his dedication to changing the face of K12 Education. This relationship with Ethos Education enables a strong synergy in our mission to challenge conventional education methods and encourage innovative ideas. His leadership sets the tone for our team and the entire Education Disruptor community.

Sheryl Castro
Editor

Meet Sheryl Castro, the Editor at Education Disruptor. With a strong educational background in Mathematics and a wealth of teaching experience, she plays a pivotal role in our editorial team.

Sheryl holds a Master of Arts in Education with a major in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Secondary Education, specializing in the same subject. She is a licensed teacher, having successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers.

Her teaching journey spans across different curricula, including American, IGCSE, and CBSE. Sheryl has taught in Dubai, UAE, and the Philippines. Her versatile background also includes a role as a Coordinator at previous school in Dubai.

In addition to her teaching career, Sheryl has invested in professional development. She completed a TEFL Online Course and participated in various workshops, including E-learning and Teaching Strategies in Mathematics. Her proficiency in using technology in education is a valuable asset.

Sheryl’s passion for teaching and her commitment to innovative pedagogy are evident in her participation in workshops such as “Teaching Mathematics the Japanese Way” and “Whole Brain Literacy.”

Ken Imperato
distinguished member

Meet Ken Imperato, a distinguished member of the Educational Advisory Committee at Education Disruptor. With a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, he brings a unique perspective and a comprehensive understanding of educational systems.

Ken’s educational journey, from an associate degree to a Doctorate from Southern Connecticut State University, reflects his versatile expertise. Holding roles such as Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Assistant Superintendent, University Professor, and Cluster Head, he showcases diverse leadership skills.

As a Lead Accreditor for International Schools at the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Ken ensures and maintains educational excellence. His certifications in School Leadership and Deputy Principal approval from KHDA, Dubai, highlight his dedication to professional growth.

Ken’s commitment spans on-site, hybrid, and remote education models, influencing locations globally, including East Asia, the United States, Latin America, MENA, and South Africa. His wealth of experience makes him a valuable asset to the Educational Advisory Committee, contributing to reshaping education at Education Disruptor.

Kerry Smith
distinguished member

a key member of the Educational Advisory Committee at Education Disruptor, is a Primary School Senior Leader and instructional performance coach lauded for her global perspective and proven success in school improvement.

In 2020, Kerry earned an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Exeter, UK. Holding a Cert.TESOL from Trinity College London (1995) and a BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.Ed. Primary) from Northern College of Education, Aberdeen University, UK (1991), Kerry boasts a robust educational foundation.

Her skills include Educational Leadership, Whole School External Assessment Leadership, Designated Safeguarding Lead (Level 3), resilience, and consequential thinking. Proficient in Primary Curriculum Design and data analysis for school improvement, she is a qualified performance coach for instructional leadership.

As an Instructional Coach at Al Watan School in Abu Dhabi, Kerry oversees quality assurance in teaching, learning, and curriculum, serving as a Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Kerry’s portfolio includes primary school leadership roles as Principal, Head of Junior School and Deputy Head in Europe and in the United Arab Emirates.

Kerry significantly contributes to the Educational Advisory Committee, embodying a commitment to educational excellence, she significantly contributes to the Educational Advisory Committee at Education Disruptor.

Laura Guerard
esteemed member

Laura Guerard, an esteemed member of the Educational Advisory Committee at Education Disruptor, is a devoted Secondary Educator and advocate for life-long learning. With certifications in Secondary English, Social Studies/History, and EFL, she holds both a U.S. teaching license and UK Qualified Teacher Status, accompanied by extensive leadership experience.

Her educational journey includes roles such as Secondary Instructor at Oxbridge Academy in Baku, Azerbaijan, during 2022-24, where she focused on Key Stage 3 Fiction Literature. Laura served as a High School Teacher at MC School in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, teaching various subjects, including World History and Advanced Placement English. From 2017 to 2020, Laura worked as a Multimodal Teacher and EAL Director at Nile Valley School in Khartoum, Sudan, teaching Grade 4-6 Social Studies and Language Arts, and creating an EFL department.

Laura’s diverse experiences also include roles as an EFL Instructor in Italy, Saudi Arabia, and the USA, showcasing her commitment to education and student success.

She holds a B.A. in Secondary English Education from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and has certifications in TEFL/TESOL Instructor from Oxford Seminars.

Paul Codley
ESTEEMED MEMBER

Meet Paul Codley, a distinguished member of the Educational Advisory Committee at Education Disruptor. Paul serves as an English Language Advisor, bringing extensive experience in the EFL sector and showcasing a natural responsibility and caring attitude.

 

Paul is an efficient and highly motivated individual, recognized as a team player with excellent communication skills. His resourcefulness, responsiveness to change, and positive values contribute to achieving set targets in a harmonious way. Confident in his abilities, Paul is dedicated to giving his best in any situation.

 

His extensive work experience in the English Language industry spans from 1984 to current day.  With a wealth of experience in the EFL sector, Paul has held various significant roles. These include serving as an ESP (JFLT/TPT/TEA) Aviation Language and GE Tester for the Italian Air Force in Loreto, Italy, and I.T.O Molfetta (BA), Italy since February 2019. Prior to that, he was the General Manager at ASEI Language School in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, from June 2017 to February 2019.

 

Paul’s educational journey is marked by a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from Essex University, UK, in 1984. He also holds certifications in CELTA (International House, Rome, Italy, 1984) and T.E.A Administration (Mayflower College, Plymouth, UK, 2014 to 2018).

 

Paul Codley, in his role as an English Language Advisor, significantly contributes to the Educational Advisory Committee’s mission of reshaping education at Education Disruptor.
